Collaboration between OrthOracle, UK and the German Academy for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.

OrthOracle and the German Academy for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery (AOUC) are proud to announce their collaboration.

“As a Surgeon owned publisher it is always a pleasure for us to work with International Surgical associations, especially those such as the German Academy with whom we share the core objectives of disseminating & supporting best surgical practice,” says Mark Herron FRCS, OrthOracles’ Managing Editor.

With more than 500 detailed operative techniques across the whole Orthopaedic spectrum OrthOracle is the leading e-learning Orthopaedic Surgical Atlas online, providing detailed, step by step operative information for both experienced Surgeons as well as Surgeons in training. OrthOracle is independent, developed and lead by surgeons and accredited by leading surgical associations such as the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England, Edinburgh, Ireland and now also the German Academy for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.

“Innovation is the engine of progress but innovation in surgery depends upon detailed knowledge, without which it’s worthless,” comments Peter Biberthaler, professor of trauma surgery in Munich and OrthOracle editor. “Hence, a comprehensive platform of scientifically based OR descriptions, peer reviewed and properly accredited promises to support the highest quality standards across Orthopaedic surgery. By disseminating best practice, we hope that this cooperation with one of the most respected online OR atlases will assist with ensuring high surgical standards and improving outcomes for our patients.”

Surgery is inherently visual and its demonstration requires a clear illustration of human anatomy as well as its’ adjustment. For those of us learning, or refreshing our knowledge of operations, their stepwise nature is best imparted by a comprehensive series of high-definition images which provide not only the detail needed but the time to understand them.

Professionally taken photographs, detailing every step of the surgical technique from live operations is what you’ll find on OrthOracle. You’ll also discover unique and critical insights from experienced Surgeons on the entire surgical journey from investigation and assessment through operation to rehabilitation, designed to assist Surgeons in their decision making.

OrthOracle also provides access to a 3D anatomy atlas and full text Orthopaedic journal articles powered by IBM Watsons AI search engine.

“As British based Surgeons we see too few tangible professional links between ourselves and the German Orthopaedic community, especially since both countries have such long pedigrees of Orthopaedic excellence and innovation. We are therefore delighted that from June 2022 the OrthOracle surgical education platform will be available to all German Academy members, and we look forward to a long and productive relationship with the Academy,” comments Mark Herron about the new cooperation.

“OrthOracle will be part of numerous practical courses on operative techniques and learning packages for residents and experienced surgeons in Germany,” states Joerg Ansorg, surgeon and CEO of the AOUC in Berlin. “We proudly introduce this comprehensive and high-quality resource for professional development to our more than 15.000 members.”
